Every month, we spotlight someone from the LERETA roster. This month, get to know Louise, an Instructional Designer on our team.

What do you do in your role with LERETA?

In my position, I collaborate with teams across LERETA to develop training strategies and materials that help both internal staff and customers understand our processes. These responsibilities allow me to tap into my creativity when designing training documents, job aids, and videos, as well as when conducting training sessions in person or virtually. Additionally, I manage our Learning Management System (LMS) and the Awardco system.

How long have you worked with LERETA?

I have worked with LERETA for just over 11 years and was part of the QBE acquisition, where I worked for the previous five years. During my time at LERETA I have had the opportunity to serve as the Vice President of Claims & Lost Properties and, for the past four years, as an Instructional Designer within Training & Development.

What is your favorite thing about your job or working at LERETA in general?

One of the things I appreciate most about my job is the opportunity to connect with so many departments and colleagues. My role interacts with every part of the company, which allows me to meet new people, collaborate across teams, and build relationships. I have developed so many meaningful relationships with individuals from all over the country.

Tell us about your family.

This month marks 35 years of marriage between my husband, Kevin, and me. Fun fact: we have known each other since preschool. I have a dog named Boone, who is a 12-year-old Catahoula/Beagle mix, and we also have two grown children. Our daughter, Ashley, who is 31 years old, is a middle school social studies teacher, and our son, Andrew, who is 26 years old, is an EMT. Just last year, Ashely and her husband, Brian, gave us the best gift ever—our granddaughter, Zoey, who will be 8 months old soon.

What do you like to do in your free time?

My free time is all about family, as it is everything to me. If you ask anyone, they can tell you that I am always visiting family, hosting family, or participating in family game nights. Outside of family time, I enjoy relaxing with Kevin and Boone while watching TV, reading mystery or horror-thriller novels, and going to a good concert. I also like to take time to enjoy a good cup of Guatemalan coffee.

Where did you grow up and/or where do you live now?

I was born and raised in Queens, New York, and later moved to North Carolina as part of a job relocation, which eventually led me to Angier, NC, where I lived for about 28 years. I now reside just outside of Winston-Salem, NC, after moving nearly two years ago to, as you can guess, be closer to family. I love our new home and community. The best part of this new chapter for us is that we are just a two-minute walk from being able to visit my children and granddaughter.
