In this LERETA employee spotlight, meet Mindy Holcomb—Human Resources Generalist and the person making sure every LERETA employee feels supported, from their first day and every day after.
What do you do in your role with LERETA?
I basically get to be a little bit of everything when it comes to people and the workplace: welcoming new employees, answering questions and helping managers work through employee situations. I also manage leaves of absence, support benefits and performance conversations, and make sure we’re following policies and employment laws. The fun part is that no two days look alike. I might start the morning talking to a group of new LERETA employees and end the afternoon helping someone navigate a workplace challenge that nobody saw coming. It definitely keeps me on my toes!
How long have you worked with LERETA?
I’ve been a member of the LERETA family since 2018, but didn’t officially join the team until January 2023.
What is your favorite thing about your job or working at LERETA in general?
I love that what I do is all about the people of LERETA. I get to listen, help, advocate, problem-solve and occasionally remind everyone that there actually is a policy for that. My goal is to make the workplace somewhere people feel supported, respected and able to do their best work, while keeping a smile on my face and a good sense of humor along the way.
Tell us about your family.
I have three adult kids—Zach, Alex and Avery—and three grandkids who keep life interesting and my heart full. My kids are grown now, but I’m still happily playing the role of mom, cheerleader, advice-giver and occasional meddler when the situation calls for it.
What do you like to do in your free time?
My free time is pretty much dictated by my grandkids’ school and sports schedules. Soccer, baseball, basketball—if they’re playing it, I’m watching it and cheering like I understand all the rules.
Where did you grow up and/or where do you live now?
I’m an Oklahoma girl at heart, having grown up in Yukon, a small rural community smack dab in the middle of the Sooner State. In 1998, my husband and I traded Oklahoma sunsets for Texas skies and happily made Texas our home. But don’t worry: the Oklahoma twang and small-town spirit came along for the ride.
