Every month, we’ll be spotlighting someone from the LERETA roster. This month, get to know Michael Kellogg our Lead Software Engineer
1. What is your role with LERETA? I am part of a talented team of engineers working on a transformative project to modernize LERETA’s technology infrastructure. Our goal is to build a robust, scalable and efficient system that will benefit our clients and the company as a whole.
2. How long have you worked with LERETA? Just over a year. I joined in September 2023.
3. What is your favorite thing about working at LERETA? Really the people I get to work with every day make it enjoyable to come to work every day. Everyone is friendly and good at what they do. Our project is also very challenging and when you’re able to successfully work through those challenges you get a real sense of accomplishment. I think 2025 is going to be huge for us in that area.
4. Tell us about your family. I’ve been happily married for 32 years and have two grown daughters and recently two grandkids, a girl and a boy, who my wife and I cannot get enough of. The only challenge is they all live in Austin, Texas now, so my wife and I have been keeping Southwest Airlines in business lately.
5. What do you like to do in your free time? Mainly I like to ride my bike all over, which I’ve done since I was 13. Nowadays we have good virtual cycling applications like Rouvy and Zwift so I do most of my riding virtually all over the world, which is a lot of fun (and a lot safer). When I’m home I like to read, smoke cigars and mix cocktails. Sometimes all at the same time. I’m also a big Angels and Ducks fan.
6. Where did you grow up? I grew up in the south, in North Carolina and Georgia. My family moved to California when I was 13 and I went away to Northern Arizona for college. I came back after graduation for work, got married, bounced around for a few years and then settled in Diamond Bar, where we’ve been ever since.
