Leadership Honors, Escrow Insights, and What’s Shaping Servicing
LERETA COO Suzanne Powell earned a spot on PROGRESS in Lending’s 2026 Most Powerful Women in FinTech list. Our third annual Borrower Escrow Survey is out, with new data on what borrowers understand, what surprises them, and where servicers have room to act. We’re also looking at what credit unions are weighing as mortgage portfolios grow, where AI stands in the lending lifecycle, and introducing Tish Biandino, who leads our Task and At-Risk Teams. Here’s what stood out.

Suzanne Powell Named to the 2026 Most Powerful Women in FinTech
Our Chief Operating Officer, Suzanne Powell, has been named to PROGRESS in Lending’s 2026 Most Powerful Women in FinTech.
Suzanne joined LERETA as our first-ever Chief Transformation Officer, bringing nearly three decades of fintech and mortgage experience to the role. She’s led our push toward a more data-driven, automation-first operation—work that shows up for our clients in real and measurable ways. The recognition is well-earned

What Our Escrow Survey Means for Servicers
Our third annual Borrower Escrow Survey finds borrowers are gaining confidence in how escrow works—but payment increases are still landing as a surprise. Among borrowers who saw a payment change in the past two years, 62% attributed it to higher property taxes, and 60% said they weren’t expecting it.
72% of borrowers said it would be very helpful to view their property tax bill and status directly in their mortgage app or website. For servicers, that’s a clear opening. Greater visibility into what escrow activity means.

Employee Spotlight: Leticia Biandino
This quarter, we’re spotlighting Leticia “Tish” Biandino, our Task and At-Risk Teams Supervisor, who has been with LERETA for 25 years.
Leticia “Tish” Biandino supervises our Task and At-Risk Teams, working on some of the most complex situations in a servicer’s portfolio. Her team handles seriously delinquent properties, moving quickly to protect lenders from property losses and foreclosure exposure.
After 25 years with LERETA, she describes her team as “a perfectly fitting puzzle,” the kind of experienced, close-knit group our clients count on every day.

Blog Feature: Mortgage Servicing Trends Credit Unions Are Watching
Credit unions are gaining ground in mortgage lending, with their refinance loan share climbing from 9% in 2020 to 16% in 2024. As their portfolios grow, more are weighing whether to bring servicing in-house or rely on a partner.
Our team pulled key threads from the FICS Annual Users’ Conference—covering the revenue case for retaining servicing, and the staffing and training realities smaller institutions face when they take it on. The common thread is that credit unions aren’t just shopping for software. They want a partner who understands the member relationship and stays with them for the long haul.

Industry Insights: AI’s Expanding Role Across the Mortgage Lifecycle
A recent ABA Banking Journal article takes stock of how quickly AI has moved from experiment to everyday infrastructure across mortgage lending and servicing. The shift has been fast. In 2024, 38% of mortgage lenders reported using AI and machine learning, up from 15% a year earlier.
Every expert in the piece lands on the same point: AI’s value depends on the discipline behind it—transparent governance, data security, and accuracy. That last part is where we live. Dependable tax and flood data gives servicers a foundation they can trust as they put new technology to work.
